Our Story

In the quiet, picturesque town of Tirur, nestled in the heart of Malappuram District in Kerala, a remarkable journey in healthcare began over a century ago. It was the year 1916 when a visionary named Shri. Sankaran Vaidyar, deeply inspired by the ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda, embarked on a mission to establish what would become the foundation of our great tradition.

Sankaran Vaidyar's passion for Ayurveda was matched only by his unyielding dedication to the well-being of his community. He saw the potential of Ayurveda to heal not just the body, but the mind as well. With a modest clinic and a handful of handpicked herbs, he set out to provide holistic healing to those in need.
As the years passed, the reputation of Sankaran Vaidyar's practice grew, and people from all corners of the state of Kerala sought his expertise. Generations of healers followed in Sankaran Vaidyar's footsteps, each adding their unique knowledge and experiences to the hospital's legacy. 

Recognizing the need for a more extensive facility, Shri. Viswambharan Vaidyar, s/o Sankaran Vaidyar expanded his clinic into what is now the Sankar Ayurvedic Hospital. 

The hospital, built on timeless Ayurvedic principles, became a sanctuary of well-being, where patients found solace in natural healing.

Dr Jayaprakash son of Shri Viswambharan Vaidyar, took over the reins of Sankar’s Ayurvedic hospital in 1993 and continued to preserve the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda passed down to him through generations while embracing modern scientific advancements as well. Dr Anitha Jayprakash joined the hospital as an Ayurvedic practitioner in 2004

In the year 2023, a new chapter in our hospital's legacy unfolded with the establishment of Sankar’s Jeevani, a specialised branch primarily dedicated to serving new mothers and their unique healthcare needs. This expansion marked our commitment to evolving with the changing healthcare landscape while staying rooted in the time-honored principles of Ayurveda. In addition to our specialized care for new mothers, we continue to offer a wide range of Ayurvedic treatments, ensuring that our patients have access to the best of both traditional wisdom and modern medical advancements. This new venture is a testament to our enduring dedication to holistic well-being and the ever-evolving healthcare requirements of our community.
